Dr. Faraz Haghighi. is a therapeutic optometrist and certified optometric glaucoma specialist. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas and his Doctor of Optometry degree from University of Houston College of Optometry.
Scholastically, he was the recipient of the Zelda Schiffman Neuro-ophthalmology award during his externship at the Neuro-ophthalmology of Texas in Houston, TX. Thereafter, he joined the practice as a therapeutic optometrist. There, he focused on optometric care for patients with glaucoma, thyroid eye disease, multiple sclerosis, and variety of neuro-ophthalmic disorders. Dr. Haghighi has practiced primary vision care at a private practice in Houston area for the past six years with an emphasis on contact lenses, including specialty rigid contact lenses, tonic and multifocal fits. In addition, he focuses on diagnosis and management of ocular conditions such as corneal disorders, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano and the violin, exploring music and spending time with his family. Dr. Haghighi speaks English, Spanish and Farsi fluently. He is looking forward to providing great eye care for you and your family.
A native Texan, Linda Matocha grew up just south of Houston in Freeport, TX. She did her undergraduate work at University of Houston and graduated from the University Of Houston College Of Optometry in 1985. After working for an HMO in Houston for 4 years, Dr. Matocha joined the TSO family in November 1989 at the Memorial City location. She joined the Museum District TSO team in the fall of 2013 and Downtown TSO in 2017. Dr. Matocha now splits her time between Memorial City TSO, Museum District TSO and Downtown TSO.
Dr. Matocha is a therapeutic optometrist who practices full-scope optometry, including comprehensive eye examinations, all types of contact lens fittings, dry eye treatment and co-management of LASIK and cataracts. Memorial City TSO, Museum District TSO and Downtown TSO carry over 750 frames and sunglasses in the latest styles to meet all patient’s needs.
She and her husband Hal, a native Houstonian and petroleum Landman, moved from the suburbs to the Museum District area in 2006. Avid sports fans, they support the Houston home teams in baseball, football, basketball and soccer. They combined their love of travel and sports by visiting every major league baseball team’s stadium. In 2005, they finished this quest. They then worked on seeing the Astros in every team’s stadium, finishing that quest in Oakland in 2015. Together, Dr. Matocha and Hal have also been to all 50 states in the U.S. To keep balanced, they also enjoy the musicals at the Hobby Center and spending time with their very large extended family.
Dr. Tran grew up on the Southwest side of Houston but has had the experience of living throughout Houston. She had once lived in the Galleria Area as well as Energy Corridor and currently resides in Katy. Dr. Tran attended the University of Houston Main Campus for undergrad and graduated in 2007 with a Biology major and Chemistry minor. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry to graduate in 2012 (Suma Cum Laude). She has been working in the Optometry field since 2005, starting as an Optometrist Assistant but became fully invested when she started Optometry school in 2008. Dr. Tran has been wearing glasses since the third grade and was always intrigued with how the eye and vision works. She says she’ll never forget how amazing it was to be able to put on glasses and see clearly for the first time and after this, knowing she wanted to help others improve their vision. Dr. Tran specializes in Glaucoma Treatment and Management, Cataract Co-Management, Lasik Evaluation, Dry Eye Treatment and treating red eyes and all contact lens complications. She also fits soft and hard contact lenses! Dr. Tran is very passionate about helping people see their best! Dr. Tran is not only fluent in English but fluent in Vietnamese as well.
In her spare time, she really enjoys reading a good book, hanging out with her family and friends and traveling with her husband, crossing places off of their Bucket List. Patches is her 3 year old Shih-Tzu, which she calls her baby, that’s another joyous thing she likes to invest her spare time into!
Dr. Zubin B Chacko was born and raised in Houston, TX. Growing up in the Alief area, Dr. Chacko was heavily involved in numerous extracurricular activities during his school years. Choral singing was extremely close to his heart during his formative years and as a result saw him competing at district, regional, and state levels. He attended Houston Baptist University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science with majors in both Biology and Mathematics. Dr. Chacko then went on to complete both an MBA and MHA at Houston Baptist University before entering the business arena. After a couple of years in the field, the prevailing economic climate and job dissatisfaction caused him to seriously consider going back to school. A helpful suggestion from his wife, a degree in science, and an internal desire to find a profession that served others made Dr. Chacko settle on the decision to go back to optometry school. He attended the University of Houston College of Optometry where he was awarded a Clinical Letter of Excellence and was also given the honor by his classmates to be their 2017 student graduation commencement speaker.
Dr. Chacko is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. His interests lie in the diagnosis and management of various retinal conditions as well as dry eye and ocular surface disease. He enjoys truly getting to know his patients and establishing relationships that help him to truly understand his patient’s exact visual needs. He can speak English and Malayalam fluently as well as conduct a very basic Spanish examination. Dr. Chacko is also a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association.
In his free time, you will probably find Dr. Chacko reading, watching Marvel and other superhero movies, or spending time with his immediate family and friends. He looks forward to serving you and your family at your next eye examination!

She thoroughly enjoys patient interactions and assisting in any way she can to help improve someone’s vision. She is very proud to have been given a promotion to a Managerial position at such a young age. Nyomi is a hard worker and dedicated to the patients and their individual vision care needs. Another proud accomplishment of Nyomi’s was joining her second year in the State Tournament for wrestling. Outside of the office, Nyomi likes to sew, shop, hang out with her family and friends and try out new make-up tutorials on her peers. A favorite childhood memory of Nyomi’s is visiting New York three years in a row during Christmas. Nyomi says she would love to live there! Although Nyomi is not fluent in Spanish, she can understand the basics. Her favorite quote by Mahatma Gandhi is written below:

Elisamai has been with TSO since May of 2014. She is a great contributor to our team as a Manager. Elisamai is originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. She has such a compassionate viewpoint and is always willing and ready to help out her team. Elisamai’s skill set includes making appointments, verifying insurance, pre-testing, ordering contacts and taking inventory. She is also fluent in English and Spanish! Getting her own place to live is her proudest accomplishment. Elisamai’s favorite childhood memory is camping with her Church and always being her Daddy’s little girl. Outside of work, Elisamai loves spending time with her family, twins and daughter and having fun movie nights! Her favorite quote is shared by a book that inspires many; The Bible:

Evan graduated from Schreiner University in May 2017. His ultimate career goal is to become an Optometrist. “I live for helping people see better.” says Evan. He enjoys seeing the smile on the patient’s faces when their vision has improved. “It is a great feeling and makes each day worth it.” Evan’s dad was an Optometrist and one of his favorite childhood memories was visiting his old Optometry office, which in turn made Evan very happy. “It felt like home away from home… even at a young age, I always loved optics and Optometry.” Evan states. He also says it was the best, just to spend good old quality time with his friends and family. In his spare time, Evan loves reading any and all kinds of books but comic books are his favorite. He also likes to socialize and explore Houston when he gets the time. Graduating from Schreiner University has been a huge goal for Evan and finally graduating was amazing he says. It is his top proudest accomplishment. Evan gives a new perspective in seeing, as he comes from a different background, he states. He is a great help here at the Memorial City Texas State Optical office and looks forward to helping you with your vision care needs.
What Merary enjoys most about her job here at Memorial TSO is her interaction with the patients. “Being able to be a part of helping advance someone’s vision is what makes my job so worthwhile!” says Merary. Merary contributes patience and professionalism who is very versatile and can speak both English and Spanish fluently. One of Merary’s favorite pastime memories is being able to experience the Army Basic Training. Outside of the office, you can catch Merary at the gym! “I’m a very athletic person.” says Merary. Merary’s proudest accomplishment thus far is graduating high school. Merary has big plans to go back to college in the near future. Her favorite quote is below:

Valerie has been working with Texas State Optical since November 2014. She likes being part of the TSO team and enjoys meeting new people. Her favorite aspect of her job is being able to be a part of providing such a gift, contributing to helping people see. Valerie comes to work with a servant heart and a willing attitude to help where she is needed. “Our goal, as a team here at TSO Memorial is to give our patients the best care possible.” states Valerie. Her goal has always been to be the best she can. Outside of work, Valerie enjoys trading in the stock market, running, kickboxing, working outside in the yard, but most importantly she loves to spend time with the Lord in praise and worship. Valerie has 3 dogs and 4 cats. Her favorite childhood memory consists of spending quality time with her mom and sister swimming at the lake and bowling at the bowling alley with her dad. Her favorite quote comes from Philippians 4:13 in the Bible:
