Lizeth Molina O. D.

Dr. Lizeth Molina was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She attended the University of Houston where she graduated with a B.S. in biology and a minor in chemistry. As soon as Dr. Molina graduated, she went straight into optometry school at the University Of Houston College Of Optometry to complete her doctorate. During optometry school, one of her externship sites was a low income clinic in Houston where she helped keep Houston eyes healthy. Her other externship site was in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the Indian health service where she expanded her knowledge of diabetic retinopathy and iritis. Dr. Molina has been working at different offices while in undergrad and optometry school and has over 8 years of experience in the optometry field. Dr. Molina specializes in diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, lasik co-management and contact lens fitting. “I have always had bad vision, but as a teen, I met an Optometrist who fit me in my first pair of contact lenses. I didn’t just see better, I also became fascinated by the concept of sight and the science behind it. I wanted to learn all the things the doctor did to improve my vision and from then on, I knew what I wanted to do with my life.” states Dr. Molina, on why she chose the optical field. In her free time, Dr. Molina likes quality time with her family, friends and her little cat Tom. Traveling has allowed her to know about different cultures and natural places, “so it has always interested me” says Dr. Molina. She also likes to explore Houston and Texas whether at a new restaurant, park or a quiet place to relax. Dr. Molina speaks both Spanish and English fluently and looks forward to serving you and your family at your next eye examination!

Undergraduate: University of Houston Downtown, bachelor’s in biology with a minor in Chemistry; Optometry: University of Houston College of Optometry.

Professional Achievements/Associations: American Optometric Association and the Texas Optometry Association.

Clinical Certifications & Specialties: Therapeutic optometrist and
glaucoma specialist.

What drives your passion for optometry? I enjoy providing high
quality, personalized medical and routine eye exams to patients with whom I genuinely enjoy our interactions in bettering their eye health needs. I also like to both educate my patients and place them at ease so that their experience at MyEyeDr is a two-way dialogue where we both listen and respond in a relaxed setting.

Hobbies/interest: Traveling, spreading time with family and listening to music.

Faraz Haghighi, O.D.

Dr. Faraz Haghighi. is a therapeutic optometrist and certified optometric glaucoma specialist. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas and his Doctor of Optometry degree from University of Houston College of Optometry.

Scholastically, he was the recipient of the Zelda Schiffman Neuro-ophthalmology award during his externship at the Neuro-ophthalmology of Texas in Houston, TX. Thereafter, he joined the practice as a therapeutic optometrist. There, he focused on optometric care for patients with glaucoma, thyroid eye disease, multiple sclerosis, and variety of neuro-ophthalmic disorders. Dr. Haghighi has practiced primary vision care at a private practice in Houston area for the past six years with an emphasis on contact lenses, including specialty rigid contact lenses, tonic and multifocal fits. In addition, he focuses on diagnosis and management of ocular conditions such as corneal disorders, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic and hypertensive retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome.

In his spare time, he enjoys playing the piano and the violin, exploring music and spending time with his family. Dr. Haghighi speaks English, Spanish and Farsi fluently. He is looking forward to providing great eye care for you and your family.

Sonia Sarmiento

General Manager

Sonia has her Medical Assistance degree and over 10 years’ experience in the optical and ophthalmology field. Her career goals are to grown within Texas State Optical and expand her knowledge in vision care. Sonia is great at problem solving, setting team driven goals and assisting patients with their personal eye care needs! She coordinates things for her team and the patients alike, where all runs smoothly and everyone leaves happy. Sonia can assist patients in both English and Spanish. Her proudest accomplishment is becoming General Manger here at TSO. Sonia is a full-time mom as well to three beautiful boys. Outside of work, she enjoys online party supply boutiques and styling parties. Party styling / hosting has always been a big passion of hers. Her favored childhood pastime would be traveling during the Christmas and the summer breaks. Sonia is very helpful and looks forward to your visit here at Memorial TSO.

Sandy attended college for a few years and hopes to continue in the near future. Her goals are to study in the Optometry field since it is one of her biggest passions. "Being able to help patients choose their perfect pair of glasses and seeing them see clearly for the first time makes my job so valuable." says Sandy. Sandy helps patients choose frames, helps with the Reception desk and assists with preliminary testing (she is very versatile). Outside of the office, Sandy loves to go fishing with her boyfriend! One of her proudest accomplishments is attending college and studying a difficult subject. Sandy can assist both our English and Spanish speaking patients and looks forward to helping you!

Patient Services

Madelyn is excited to grown within the field and is even considering going back to school in the near future. She contributes efficiency, organization and phenomenal teamwork! Madelyn is always willing to go out of her way to help her co-workers and Memorial’s patient. Madelyn is very personable; here motto being… you get what you give back! Her proudest accomplishment is her furthered education and continuing her studies. Outside of work, Madelyn enjoys fixing up furniture and making art. A favorite childhood memory of hers is selling watermelons on the side of the road with her grandfather. Madelyn wants to achieve the most in the eye care field and looks forward to helping you.

Evan graduated from Schreiner University in May 2017. His ultimate career goal is to become an Optometrist. “I live for helping people see better.” says Evan. He enjoys seeing the smile on the patient’s faces when their vision has improved. “It is a great feeling and makes each day worth it.” Evan’s dad was an Optometrist and one of his favorite childhood memories was visiting his old Optometry office, which in turn made Evan very happy. “It felt like home away from home… even at a young age, I always loved optics and Optometry.” Evan states. He also says it was the best, just to spend good old quality time with his friends and family. In his spare time, Evan loves reading any and all kinds of books but comic books are his favorite. He also likes to socialize and explore Houston when he gets the time. Graduating from Schreiner University has been a huge goal for Evan and finally graduating was amazing he says. It is his top proudest accomplishment. Evan gives a new perspective in seeing, as he comes from a different background, he states. He is a great help here at the Memorial City Texas State Optical office and looks forward to helping you with your vision care needs.
